This year was a little different as I went round the show with a friend for whom this was a new experience. As a result I viewed things from a slightly different perspective and picked out something that I would otherwise have passed by. Here are images of some of the work we stopped at.
Now I wouldn’t normally be drawn to an insulated container for sailors but my companion, an experienced yachtswoman, was intrigued by Guy Newsom’s clip-on flask and declared it a great product idea, well conceived. She’s now on the waiting list of buyers. We were delighted to learn that he has a job starting in the autumn with Vax, the company he did his placement with, so can relax and enjoy his sailing this summer. Go Loughborough!
A low-key bat box by Nick Astbury caught our attention. I’m afraid he doesn’t have an active website (I’ve included the address for when it goes live) so if you need his details then please contact me.
This ingenious piece is by Tyrone Stoddart: a table in two heights, stools and lamp, all in a carry case. Perfect for rented accommodation and flexible working. I love the slightly retro feel and the detail of the case closure.
Oh, and he’s a Starwars geek; that’s him at the table above.
