Although the gallery is a well-established space it was my first visit; a friend of mine was exhibiting in this group show curated by Rosalind Davis around the theme of self. As ever, I’ve only included a few pictures of the work here.
Charmaine Watkiss‘s almost life-sized drawings were the first pieces I saw as I arrived.
I love the way she mixes techniques with a contrast of overlaying graphite drawing and flat patterned areas.
I enjoyed the tenderness of this sumptuously coloured canvas by Ken Kiff
and recognised these slightly dream-like portraits by Sikelela Owen from an exhibition I’d seen last year.
Another drawing, this time tiny and photographically detailed by Marie Hartnett
A more politically explicit painting of self reflecting on our current situation by Laura Hudson
The exhibition is on till the 10th of June.
