I love surprises and this was most definitely one of them so thanks to my friend for suggesting this visit.
John Kørner is a Danish artist whose work is delicious and seductive while raising uncomfortable questions. I delighted in the colour and techniques yet also felt a bit guilty about the subject matter. His concerns are serious yet the work is gorgeous to look at. It’s an interesting conflict.
I love the fluidity and colouring – his use of acrylic paint, diluted at points to the liquidity of ink . The show isn’t just paintings with food but this is what I’ve chosen to focus on here.
Read about his work on the Victoria Miro website here to learn more.
Look at the confidence of his technique.
