I first met Hanna ten Doornkaat several years ago then witnessed her work at a Draw to Perform weekend and was interested in the ritual and meditative repetition of her mark-making.
This recent solo exhibition at Muse Gallery was the first time I had seen some of her larger pieces.
I’ve been used to seeing small drawings/sculptures such as these
and was intrigued by the large hanging over 1 metre wide & long. It is the single largest piece of hers that I have seen so far.
I enjoy the detail as much as the overall piece, the marks of an obsessive hand-made process.
