Fiction at Bold Tendencies, Peckham, London

Richard Wentworth’s Agora on the ground with Bristow by Adel Abdessemed on the left & Liz Glynn’s Unearthed Underground behind.

Bold Tendencies, the rooftop location in Peckham, has spectacular views of London but the reason to visit is the arts venue (& cafe ). The current installation, Fiction, immerses the visitor into an unsettling world as I hope some of these photos taken at night show. The list isn’t comprehensive – there is plenty more to see – as ever I’ve just pulled out a few items.

Jenny Holzer’s Inflammatory Wall with its 100 word extracts exploring a range of extreme ideas “setting fanatical statements against the certainties of common opinion” as the blurb says is worth spending time on. In an age of social media these are frighteningly relevant.

B by Konrad Smoleński consists of black locked cars with tinted windows, no license plates and a droning audio track with varying frequencies. Together they emit a sinister feeling which is quite unnerving.

Matt Copson’s Agape (Infernal Cityscape) a fairground facade frames London (just visible here) & is itself framed by the city. Is this the entrance to our future?
