I’ve already written about Margo Selby in an earlier post so here are some other makers I saw at the show.
Fair Isle Knitwear, set up by “blow-in” Mati Ventrillon who now lives on the island, offers bespoke traditionally knitted Fair Isle jumpers, all dried on the ” woolly horse” wooden rack, a rather lovely thing in its own right. This lovely cowel necked / hooded piece apparently came about from a mistake but was my favourite piece. It all looks so cosy. Each item is hand knitted and made to exactly your specifications & colours.
Ptolemy Mann, previously best known for her architectural textile work, showed some of her fabrics, bedding and rugs – you’ve already seen this chair upholstered by Out of the Dark with her ikat weave. Note the gradation from burgundy to red then gold, the colour seeping out in both directions from the base and back of the chair. She’s now working with other materials – see my post on her collaboration with Johnstone’s Tiles for Clerkenwell Design week.
