Collect London 2011 – textiles

13/05/2011

So, the next installment.

Anne G Loland, another Scandinavian maker, showed this exquisitely delicate piece which looks like a shredded print at first glance

but pay a little more attention…

That’s mind boggling, isn’t it?

A sturdier piece (you couldn’t get much more fragile than the above) was a digitally woven piece by Galleri Format’s Kari Dyrdal. Such a contrast with Anne’s work, this time uniting technology with craft. To be admired in a very different way.

I have always had a thing about indigo so gravitate to anything in that colour.  Shihoko Fukomoto’s hangings are so understated and perfectly executed one can’t be anything but impressed. Katie Jones contemporary Japanese art  had quite a few of her pieces on show at the end of one of the galleries.

If I’m giving you too much information please let me know.

I’ll talk about Steffen Dam’s latest work next time.
