Art fairs can often be visually noisy – so much art vying to make itself heard above the clamour can be overwhelming. Start Art Fair in London this year was no exception, especially as I had learnt an hour before that I had been selected to show at The Other Art Fair.
This was why I stopped at Sapar Contemporary’s stand to contemplate the calm and feel a connection with some of Shinji Turner-Yamamoto’s Pentimenti hung on the wall. These fragments of debris have been collected from the deconsecrated Holy Cross church in Cincinnati and transmuted by the artist into precious objects.
I don’t want to say more as I think they communicate without the need for words. For more information please read what the artist says here.
Many thanks to Nina Levent who sent me these photos as I was too rushed to take any pictures that evening.
