Ripe Comatricha

This photographic exhibition, organised by Forestry England as well as the Royal Geographical Society (with Institute of British Geographers- IBG) is “a collection of films and photographs stimulating conversations about our world”. It is an open call submission open to photographers at any stage of their career.

Maturing Comatricha

I was entranced by Barry Webb’s (UK) series on the lifecycle of the comatricha, a slime mould found on trees and only about 2mm tall. It’s beauty is otherworldly.

This image below by Pal Hermansen (Norway) consists of the insect life that had made its way into a lamp on a summer’s evening.

The photo below by Fatma Demir (Turkey) reminds me of the first Studio Ghibli film, Castle in the Sky . Such a poetic view of old & new Istanbul on a foggy/smoggy day.

And lastly, views of the pink salt lakes of Kherson in the Ukraine by Yevhen Samuchenko (Ukraine). They don’t look real at all.
